[Bellefonte, PA]: Centre County Prothonotary Debra C. Immel is one of this year’s Outstanding Elected Democratic Women in Pennsylvania. The Federation of Democratic Women selected Immel for the award, presented at the Federation’s meeting of Nov. 22, in Camp Hill. Immel was selected based on her involvement and strong commitment to her community and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an elected official.
Immel said, “I am honored and pleased to have been chosen for this outstanding award. I enjoy every aspect of my position; serving the citizens of Centre County.”
She is currently serving in her third term as Centre County’s Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts. Immel, of Aaronsburg, was first elected as Prothonotary in 1999. She is a former elected member of the Penns Valley Area School Board, the Democratic Committeewoman for Haines Township and the former president and current secretary of the Penns Valley Federation of Democratic Women. Immel serves as the Lecturer of the Penns Valley Grange #158, a member of the Penns Valley Kiwanis Club, the Penns Valley Area Historical Museum, the State College Elks Club #1600 where she volunteers for the Charity Golf Tournament and the Christmas Charity Program, and St John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim where she serves as council secretary.
Service Project
Let's put our principles into action! The Food Bank and the Pet Pantry need our help. Can you bring at least one item to our petition party? Here is more information about both organizations.
The Food Bank is experiencing higher demand. They particularly need flour, sugar, salt, cooking oil and cooking spray, ketchup, mayo, pasta, jello, canned veggies, cleaning supplies like laundry detergent, personal supplies like shampoo and toothpaste, and baby items. If you want to learn more about the organization and its needs, go to http://foodbank.centreconnect.org.
The Pet Pantry of Centre County opened in June 2009 and works with all of the Food Banks in the county, supplying them with cat and dog food for their clients. Approximately 10,000 pounds of pet food is distributed each month. Often a cat or dog is the only other living being many people can count on for daily interaction. Pets are important to people and providing food is key to them staying in their homes and not being taken to the already overflowing animal shelters and rescues. Please open your hearts and donate a bag or some cans of cat or dog food on Sunday, Feb. 21. A collection bin will be provided at the petition party. Gift cards to local grocery stores are also a welcome donation. If you desire more information, please email kimbierly@hotmail.com.
For either organization, grocery gift cards are always welcome, so they can shop for items that are low. Whenever you donate gift cards, please attach the receipt--sometimes store staff forget to validate the amount.
